Years ago, sweatsuits were just a quick simple throw on, usually for athletes or people who participated in sports. Brands like Hanes, Russell Athletic & Champion were some of the tops when I was a child. Some of my favorites were ones that featured my favorite sports teams. They were my favorite to wear for outdoor play with my friends.
Today’s sweatsuits are not only crafted with premium fabrics, but they can be pricey! If they’re good, piling is at a minimum and they last for many years. Shrinkage is little to none with a good sweatsuit.
If you’re new to online shopping or you are simply tired of low quality goods that you have to end up shopping for again in a few months, I have created a small list of things to check for when buying a sweatsuit online.
Things often look better on the Internet than they do in person. Nothing worse than getting that item home and it’s nothing like the picture online. 😬.
As a founder, I pride myself on going with the highest quality that we can afford for our garments. It retains customers and they only shop for what they need.
1. Always check the details: Know your fabrics.
If you’re going to shop online, I advise you to learn about fabrics and their worth. Take Polyester fabric for example. It’s a good fabric to use for garments. It is not a good one to use for sweatsuits. Polyester has unlimited stretch and without the blend of cotton, the stretch won’t come back to form, leaving you with a stretched out sweatsuit.
Companies often go with it because…it’s cheap. They can make a solid profit, but they also make an unhappy customer that will shop elsewhere. The suit will also develop a slightly shiny look after one to two washes. The color will also change. For sensitive skin, irritation may occur.
Our advice? Avoid 100% Polyester sweatsuits. 👎
2. Check the weight of the garments.
The heavier, the more they cost. Understandable. Fabric can get pricey if a lot is used. So if the sweatsuit is over 10oz.(340-350gsm), it’s good quality. When you think of sweatsuits, you think of warmth. Coziness. Like a wearable blanket, almost. If a sweatshirt is 7oz., put it back. Unless you’re looking for a lighter garment for the Spring season, the heavier, the better. Also, don’t be afraid to spend for it. They last. 👍
3. Look around. Take time.
Make sure it’s worth your money. Remember, you want a suit that will last and be comfortable. Sizing matters as well. Be sure to check charts to ensure you’re proper measurements. All brands do not fit the same. 👍
Shopping online can almost be as draining as being in the actual store. Learning hacks and shortcuts go a long way. Navigate wisely and we hope that you stay warm & cozy this Winter.
Cheers. 🥂 🤝🐺
