The Parka Jacket. Built for warmth. Built for durability. Long lasting. Great. Or, maybe not so great. Yes, it’s warm. Yes, it’s often long lasting. When I was a kid, I had my Triple Fat Goose coat for years. My mother bundled me up every day for school. I also was 9, standing at a bus stop on cold days. By the time I got to school in my parka, I was sweaty. That’s how warm they are. Great for what they are meant for. But can we be honest? They’re big, they aren’t stylish(sometimes they look good in shoots, depending on the mood), I could go on. It’s 2024. So many ways to stay warm in style these days. Unless you’re in cold weather for a very long time, there’s absolutely no point in owning or wearing a parka jacket anywhere. When we speak of parkas, we’re referring to the super heavy ones. The new updated tech styles are incredible. We have a few on the way. The original style is vastly outdated. Canada Goose was made, in Canada. The temps are well below freezing there on the warmest days in winter. Great. In America it seems as if the winters are becoming shorter and warmer. If you’re looking to stay warm in winter while maintaining your style, opt for outerwear that include high quality fabrics like wool, fleece or Sherpa. There are so many styles available these days. Throw away the heavy jacket and go lighter. Tech vests are built for layering & warmth. Find what works for you. Plus, layering looks incredible in the cold months. This is the time for style.
